Astrocent – the Particle Astrophysics Science and Technology Centre operating within the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences (NCAC PAS) – is seeking a candidate who can independently and responsibly manage the area of procurement (including conducting tender procedures based on the Public Procurement Law and internal regulations) for the Astrocent unit, which is currently transitioning into a new PAS institute. This role is intended for a candidate with extensive experience, excellent knowledge of the Public Procurement Law, and the ability to operate confidently in a complex, including international, organizational environment.

Main responsibilities include:
  • organising public procurement procedures in accordance with the Public Procurement Law, internal regulations, and the requirements of project funding institutions (initiating procedures, drafting Terms of Reference, publishing notices, handling inquiries, preparing protocols, drafting contract templates, overseeing deliveries);
  • cooperating with substantive units requesting the initiation of procurement procedures and preparing complete tender documentation in collaboration with relevant staff;
  • verifying procurement requests for purchases not covered by the Public Procurement Law, in accordance with internal procedures;
  • preparing the annual and comprehensive public procurement plan for the institute;
  • maintaining documentation related to procurement and keeping the register of procurements not subject to the Public Procurement Law;
  • preparing the institute’s annual public procurement report;
  • monitoring changes in public procurement regulations and recommending updates to internal procurement procedures;
  • participating in the work of tender committees;
  • preparing draft responses for audits and inspections related to procurement.
Our requirements
  • higher education degree,
  • at least 3 years of experience in an independent public procurement position,
  • excellent knowledge of the Public Procurement Law, its implementing acts, practical application, and relevant case law,
  • ability to draft procurement specifications compliant with the Public Procurement Law and to collaborate on developing technical requirements for such specifications,
  • documented participation in at least two EU‑funded projects, with each engagement lasting no less than 12 months and involving responsibilities directly related to public procurement, including preparing and conducting procedures,
  • strong ability to organise work independently, including under pressure and in time‑sensitive situations; reliability, responsibility, and attention to detail,
  • good command of English,
  • very good knowledge of the MS Office suite.

About Us

Astrocent (https://acnt-test.camk.edu.pl/) is an autonomous administrative unit of the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences (https://camk.edu.pl), established in July 2018 as part of the International Research Agendas (MAB) program of the Foundation for Polish Science. Astrocent is an international Center of Excellence in the field of particle astrophysics. Since its inception, it has achieved significant international success and currently plays a key role in major international experiments investigating dark matter, neutrinos, and gravitational waves. Astrocent’s experimental and technological activities are supported and stimulated by the development and application of advanced computational methods and top-tier theoretical research in particle astrophysics conducted within international teams.

Since January 2025, the Astrocent Center, part of CAMK, has been implementing a six-year European Commission Teaming for Excellence project called Astrocent Plus (with funding, including a national contribution, totaling 30 million euros). Its main goal is to establish and develop a new scientific institute. On March 1, 2026, the International Institute of Particle Astrophysics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (abbreviated name: Astrocent Institute) was established. This summer, the Astrocent Center of Excellence will be transferred to the new institute, which will be dynamically developed over the coming years and raised to the highest international scientific standards.
